Project Overview

  • Client: Port of Tilbury

  • Start: Sep 2024

  • Duration: ongoing

  • Location: Tilbury, Essex

  • Project Description

In 2024 Recycled Roadways were appointed to provide aggregate handling services by the Port of Tilbury in Essex.

During the mobilisation phase we set-up an onsite facility which is fully integrated into the Port’s operational team. We have located a fleet of plant and equipment which includes:

  • 2 x L260 Loading Shovels
  • 1 x L150 Loading Shovel
  • 4 x 30-tonnes ADTs
  • 35-tonne excavator
  • Tractor/Dust suppression bowser

Our site team consists of a visiting Contracts Manager and a semi-permanent team of trained, experienced machine operators. The work involves relocating aggregate material delivered to the site from sources throughout the UK and beyond which is discharged at its radial storage conveyor. The material handled consists of Type 1 sub-base, rock, sand and single size aggregates.

The aggregates are transported to clients within the London and Essex area to be used on a wide range of infrastructure projects

Day and night shifts are often employed to relocate material delivered at short notice or to comply with tight timescales.

We handle or relocate in excess of 1 million tonnes of material at the Port of Tilbury each year.
